LEADERSHIP

·
Leadership involves developing a vision, communicating that vision and directing change. Its is more closely related to   agenda setting, aligning, inspiring and monitoring.

·         Leadership traits include intelligence, dominance, self confidence, energy, activity and knowledge of the job. These traits are shared through interest and concern on the role of leadership. The traits come naturally to leader ones he/she earns the leadership role. Some are even found in a person already before he/she is given the role.

·         A leader is by virtue of the respect from one’s commands to others and their willingness to follow one’s direction. A leader is known to the people. A leader doesn’t need to demand for respect from the comrades but instead he/she is looked up to by them and is given the respect he/she deserves without demand for it. African leaders are chosen by people and respected even when loyalty is broke, the people follow the constitution and laws provided by the leaders

·         Leadership is characterized differently. In Africa, Charismatic leadership influence based on leaders charisma(form of interpersonal attraction that inspires support and acceptance). There is a lot of confidence in their beliefs and ideals/the strong need to influence people. Eg Adolf Hitler, Steve Jobs, Ted Turner and Pope John Paul II. This type of leadership energize others by demonstrating personal excitement, personal confidence and consistent patterns of success.

·         Another type of leadership involved in Africa is Transformational leadership which has set of abilities that allow a leader to recognize the need in change to create a vision to guide that change and to execute the change effectively. Its involves routine and regimented activities. Change is such a vital organizational function that even successful firms need to change regularly to avoid becoming complaisant and stagement
